The history of indigenous Australians and Aboriginal ways of life are interesting topics to revisit. They were the first inhabitants of Australia. Indigenous Australians include the Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginal People. Both groups make up 2.5% of Australia’s population. There is a rich history of indigenous Australians dating back to about 70,000 years. Indigenous Australians live in diverse communities and societies. Each community is unique in its ways of life. For example, Aboriginal health services are different from primary care services. They view health issues in a holistic approach and incorporate health aspects into their cultures and customs.

TRADITIONAL ABORIGINAL WAYS OF LIFE
There are many unique traditional Aboriginal ways of life. Traditions and customs vary in terms of language, tribal cultures, and beliefs. In the past, most Aboriginal people were bilingual or multilingual. There are over 200 different Aboriginal languages and hundreds of dialects in the history of indigenous Australians. Each tribe had vast territories, but they shared several cultural features and interacted more with one another. The tribes were also not political or economic. The idea of a shared national identity was also absent. The perception of Aboriginal health services entailed common understandings and behaviours shared beyond the confines of the local group. Aboriginal people were hunter-gatherers and did not grow crops nor keep livestock.

HISTORY OF INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIANS AND OVERVIEW OF ABORIGINAL HEALTH SERVICES
Currently, Aboriginal health services have poorer outcomes than primary healthcare services. They often die young and have a higher likelihood of respiratory disorders, mental health issues, and diabetes. There is also a high occurrence of cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease among indigenous Australians. However, health is part of the Aboriginal ways of life, and it is challenging for them to adopt modern health services. The Australian government is making efforts to close the gap of Indigenous disadvantage in areas such as housing, health, employment, and education. This move will help to preserve the history of indigenous Australians in addition to improving their lives.
