There are many alternatives to incarceration that the criminal justice system can implement. Examples include supervised probations, halfway houses, home confinement, community service, and fines, and restitution. The high rate of incarceration is worrying. Implementing these alternatives would be an effective way of ending overpopulations in prisons and the effects of imprisonment. In probations, we can include conditions like regular meetings with probation officers, taking random urine tests, and remaining drug-free. Another alternative to incarceration would be the use of community correction centers. They are intermediate housing options for people returning from prison. We can also adopt more home confinements with conditions as punishments instead of mass incarcerations even for minor offenses.

CONFRONTING BIAS IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
In the United States, there is a lot of bias in the criminal justice system. For prosecutors, bias shows up in charging decisions, pretrial and trial strategies and closing arguments. For public defenders, bias alters case evaluation, client interaction, and settlement. There are also many forms of bias in juvenile justice. This is why considering various alternatives to incarceration would reduce the negative effects of biased judgments and sentences. Bias begins in making the laws and regulations. Afterward, bias moves to participants such as lawyers, judges, and jurors. Therefore, there is a need to address and confront this bias and end reduce the high rate of incarceration. We must be aware, motivated, trained, and practice perspective to interrupt bias.

ALTERNATIVES TO INCARCERATION AND THE RATE OF INCARCERATION IN AMERICA
In addressing issues of the high rate of incarceration, we can reduce the high population of Americans behind bars. About 0.7% of the United States is currently in a federal or state prison or local jail. The percentage becomes higher when we consider the fact that no toddlers and few adolescents go to prison. Some studies suggest that this percentage is even higher. The large numbers are the result of using a biased criminal justice system. The rate of incarceration in the United States is even higher for black men. It is quite interesting that the U.S. only consists of 5% of the world population, but 20% of the total world incarcerations. These numbers suggest a need to adopt other alternatives to incarceration.
