These public health issues mainly revolve around chronic diseases, communicable diseases, and controversial issues like climate change. Moreover, these issues are a concern since they affect a large number of the world’s population thus they need a solution. Healthcare disparities refer to the difference in access to or the availability of medical facilities and services. These differences, therefore, lead to a variation in the rate of occurrence of diseases and disabilities between population groups. In addition, these groups are defined by their socioeconomic characteristics such as gender, age, ethnicity, and economic resources.

Disparities in healthcare result from several causes. These include poverty whereby, the socioeconomic and environmental conditions of people lead to the inability to access health care services. Consequently, there is an increase in chronic diseases and premature mortality. There is inadequate or unequal access to health care which leads to a rise in public health issues due to the ideologies and attitudes toward certain groups of people. There are also the individual and behavioral factors that put people at higher risks of developing diseases due to complications. Additionally, there are environmental threats such as an individual’s workplace or the built environment in which they reside.

There are various public health issues that occur around the world. These include alcohol-related harms such as motor vehicle accidents, drownings, falls, burns, and violence. There are also issues in food safety due to the rise in foodborne illnesses that arise from eating bad food. Thirdly, there the healthcare-associated infections whereby patients contract other infections while undergoing treatment. For example, bloodstream infections and urinary tract infections. There is also HIV which majorly displays the disparities in healthcare due to the stigmatization of patients. Consequently, there is a rise in the number of people who die of HIV annually. Lastly, heart diseases and stroke mostly affect senior citizens.
