ORGANIZATIONAL ENTRY PROCESS AND NEW EMPLOYEE SOCIALIZATION

The organizational entry process and new employee socialization are important aspects, especially when orienting newcomers. Organizational entry is a multiphase process in which an employee is brought into an organization. This process is however examinable from an individual or organizational perspective.  It includes steps such as the initial attraction and recruitment of a job candidate, the assessment and possible selection of that job candidate, and then the orientation and socialization of the new hire into the organization. New employee socialization refers to the process whereby an organization makes a new employee well acquainted with it. It, therefore, helps to reduce anxiety this allowing for them to adjust effectively.

THE PURPOSE OF NEW EMPLOYEE SOCIALIZATION

New employee socialization plays a few roles. Firstly it familiarizes the employee with the employment situation, therefore, giving them more information about the work. Secondly, it familiarizes them with the rules and policies of the organization. This is especially important during the organizational entry process since it helps the employee to learn about the constraints and policies of the organization thus ensuring smooth and continuous operations. Moreover, it makes them aware of the corporate culture including the dressing code and behavior of the employees. Lastly, it enables them to deal with change hence ensuring survival in the job.

STAGES OF ORGANIZATIONAL ENTRY PROCESS

The organizational entry follows four major stages. First, there is recruitment which involves the mutual attraction between the job candidate and the hiring company. The job candidate, therefore, makes him or herself known to the hiring company using the appropriate means. Secondly, there is the selection of the new hire. In this stage, there is the mutual assessment of both the candidate and the company hence doing a test for a match. Thirdly, there is the orientation process. This normally involves the facilitation of initial adjustments of the new employees to the organization. Lastly, there is the new employee socialization process which entails the mutual adjustment of the newcomers into the company.
