Sixty-nine days later, there was an attempted assassination on Reagan. However, Ronald Reagan’s presidency would continue after his quick recovery. His popularity after the incident soared. Reagan obtained legislation to stimulate economic growth, curb inflation, increase employment, and strengthen national defense.

In the films, his character often entailed the life of a soldier who was “going off to war” and “coming home on leave.” He server as president of the union of movie actors (the Screen Actors Guild) from 1947 to 1952.
