Charlotte’s economic growth has been grabbing national headlines for years and it’s likely to continue. The future development of Charlotte depends on the economy of Charlotte to continuously grow in future. It’s a top 25 metropolitan statistical area with roughly 2.5 million residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and its population growth since 2010 has registered in the low- to mid-teens, much faster than most of the Carolinas excluding Raleigh. Home prices are growing about 3 percent a year, while the Charlotte MSA’s GDP grew 3.5 percent in 2017, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The Charlotte political trends are also contributing to the future development of the city. Overall U.S. GDP grew 2.1 percent last year, compared with Atlanta (2.9 percent), Nashville (4.1 percent) and Orlando (1.9 percent). . A light rail and bus system has allowed Charlotte to avoid a lot of the bottlenecks and traffic congestion seen elsewhere. The city’s transportation infrastructure is spurring economic development.
