For this essay, we will look at the concept of sanctification and living the Christian life. According to Christians, sanctification is God’s will for everyone. It relates to the words ‘saint’ (holiness) and ‘sanctify,’ which means setting something aside for special use. In the Bible, Jesus spoke about the concept of sanctification several times. An example is in the book of John, chapter 17. Here, he says that the truth sanctifies people and that God’s word (Bible) is the truth. In Christian theology, sanctification is a state of separation unto God. Christians also undergo several phases of sanctification to gain righteousness and redemption.

UNDERSTANDING AND LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
Living the Christian life means repenting, having faith, and recognizing the power of the Holy Spirit. By doing this, Christians conform to God’s image and live in His glory. The basis for living the Christian life is God’s work in the new birth, the forgiveness of sins, and our union to Christ. For many Christians, experiencing the concept of sanctification helps them achieve the goal of the Christian life. This goal is to share in God’s rule on the earth to the glory of God. To achieve this, they use various means, such as Scripture, prayers, and the church. They must go through all the phases of sanctification and show faith to gain favor from God.

PHASES OF SANCTIFICATION FOR CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS
There are three main phases of sanctification. These are; positional sanctification, experiential sanctification, and ultimate sanctification. The three realms reflect the past, present, and future aspects of salvation. Justification of believers happens in positional sanctification. This means they understand the concept of sanctification and become righteous in conformity to the image of Jesus Christ. Believers then gain spiritual maturity during experiential sanctification. It means achieving sanctification through experience. In essence, it means conforming to ways of the Christian life. Ultimate sanctification is where glorification occurs. It is the final stage of salvation. Believers realize this at resurrection. It includes the redemption of the body, inheritance of eternal life, and deliverance from the wrath of God.
