In America, multicultural parenting places more value on hard work, ambition, and financial independence compared to white parents. White parents peg their children’s success in their strengths and capabilities. We also see the difference in the cultural approaches to parenting in areas of food, books, art, and even music. These areas of concern help the children understand their culture as they interact with a diverse array of cultures.

Multicultural parenting concerns are about tackling the challenges the children face in their day-to-day activities. Concerns of white American parents mainly involve issues of bullying and mental health. These cultural differences in parenting practices make up generations of different upbringings. Recent studies and surveys showed that multicultural families live in relatively poor socio-economic backgrounds. Therefore, their children have different psychological adjustments compared to white American parenting.
