One of the main objectives of the Obamacare act was to reduce the number of uninsured persons in the US. Over the last nine years, the insurance coverage in the US had improved significantly. The benefits of the affordable care act are undeniable. More adults are insured today, and the coverage gaps people experience has shortened considerably. A survey conducted by the commonwealth in 2018 shows that there is an improvement in long term uninsured rates. For instance, from the study, it is evident how the Obamacare act has changed health care. However, the law has experienced a few setbacks. For instance, although fewer adults are uninsured, many more are underinsured. Most of the underinsured adults are those with employer coverage.

The patient protection and affordable care act have dramatically changed the US healthcare system in the past nine years.
