ACTION RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL CHANGE

For this assignment, we will review the action research approaches used for development and social change. With recent evolution in innovation, we can attribute development to participatory and action research. One needs to understand the characteristics of action research and relate them to their collective understanding and experiences. Additionally, Action research needs a unified approach to inquiring vision, aims, and process. These inquiries should extend to diverse contexts and interpretations that suit most of society. By using the components of action research, we can separate action research approaches from other forms of social inquiry. Researchers’ positionality affects and shapes the research process as well as the outcomes. This is where they try to alter or transform solutions from their interaction with other actors.

ACTION RESEARCH IN EDUCATION

We can use the various components of action research for educative purposes to improve performance. For example, teachers use action research to improve their teaching. This way, action research serves to benefit both the teacher and the students. Social scientists use the characteristics of action research to form pilot researches. This is especially for ambiguous cases. Such cases may require more flexibility, holistic changes, and the involvement of people in the study. The action research approaches used are a form of self-reflective inquiry undertaken by participants to improve the rationality and justice of their practices. This, therefore,  includes their understanding of these practices and the situations of the practices.
