The three-strikes law is beneficial, but the opposition is gaining momentum. In 1994, California voters enacted the “Three Strikes, and You’re Out” law. The benefit is that it can remove potentially violent offenders from the general population. More than half of the states in the US currently have some form of constant offender law. There are other advantages, and one is deterring against crime. Strong laws typically help to reduce the rate of crime that community experiences. Another pro is that the law reduces felony arrests.
