This is an analytical essay on the history and liberation in the world after 1945. Firstly, we have to understand the philosophy of liberation. This concept emerged out of both world-historical and regional socio-historical contexts. It belongs to the “maturity” stage of the “contemporary” period of the history of Latin American philosophy. The second section looks into the theology of liberation. This concept responded to a new understanding of the church’s relationship with the “people.” It also provided a further understanding of the role of faith in a world of incredible poverty and social inequality. The third section covers the sociology of liberation. It happened when Latin American industrialization went in tandem with massive urbanization.

THE RELIGIOUS MATRIX CONCERNING HISTORY OF LIBERATION

The history and philosophy of liberation had a crucial effect on religious practices. The reforms began with Vatican II (1962–1965) and the Second Latin American Bishops congregation in Medellin, Colombia (1968). Liberation theology is mostly a phenomenon of global Catholicism, but it is also a unique Latin American development. This concept of liberation is also related to the sociology of liberation. The congregation of religious leaders led to the creation of the church context for the consolidation of what was, in effect, a social movement. THE SOCIOLOGICAL MATRIX IN RELATION TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF LIBERATION

The sociology of liberation concept meant to address the situation of the urban and rural poor. This was in contexts in which the state was nearly absent. This is where religion played a big part in the influence of the theology of liberation. There were particular ways in which the poor created their institutions and norms of social interaction. Sociology of liberation created an interdisciplinary matrix that sought to address the conditions of systemic inequity. It also helped to improve the philosophy of liberation. Finally, people raised the norm that people could be the agents of their liberation.
