This is an analytical essay on the history and liberation in the world after 1945. Firstly, we have to understand the philosophy of liberation. This concept emerged out of both world-historical and regional socio-historical contexts. It belongs to the “maturity” stage of the “contemporary” period of the history of Latin American philosophy. The second section looks into the theology of liberation. This concept responded to a new understanding of the church’s relationship with the “people.” It also provided a further understanding of the role of faith in a world of incredible poverty and social inequality. The third section covers the sociology of liberation. It happened when Latin American industrialization went in tandem with massive urbanization.

The history and philosophy of liberation had a crucial effect on religious practices. The reforms began with Vatican II (1962–1965) and the Second Latin American Bishops congregation in Medellin, Colombia (1968).
