Guy de Maupassant’s early life: Guy was a famous French writer who wrote in the nineteenth century. Born on August 5, 1850, in the castle Miromesnil in France, Guy loved storytelling from a young age. His parenting exposed him to literature, which was the first step to him becoming a writer. He completed his primary school education at a local church. The relationship between Maupassant’s experiences and his stories: in 1870, he interrupted his law studies to participate in the Franco-German War as a private in the field. He served in the military until the war ended, and his firsthand experience of war helped him write amazing stories. Years after the war, Maupassant’s apprenticeship with Flaubert began. This was the beginning of Maupassant, the writer.

Career life of Guy de Maupassant

Guy de Maupassant’s apprenticeship with Flaubert was the foundation of his career as a writer. This apprenticeship as a result of the friendship between Gustave Flaubert and his mother’s sister. Flaubert introduced Guy to several authors and made sure he moved from administrative jobs into writing. Guy de Maupassant’s early life and support from his mother made this transition easy. Throughout his career, he wrote novels, travel books, verses, and 300 short stories. As stated earlier, there is a relationship between Maupassant’s experiences and his stories. However, some of his stories had topics related to madness and suicide. This is commonly associated with the fact that he suffered from syphilis in his early 20’s and refused to treat it.

Mental illness and death visit

In his early 20s, Guy contracted syphilis, which he refused to treat. Unfortunately, this led to his mental impairment and increasingly strange behavior. As stated earlier, there is a relationship between Guy de Maupassant’s experiences and his stories. Some of these experiences include his time in the war and his mental impairment. In 1891, he attempted suicide as a result of his mental impairment. He died in a psychiatric hospital in Paris after 18 months of admission. Guy de Maupassant’s early life and his career remain a legacy all around the world.
